So, there is a reason to be bitter about Johnny's Cathouse Downtown... Johnny is now offering you North Star IPA... North Star's IPA is a "Hop Head" delight. The current batch of IPA is very well balanced, light malt character, perfect amount of bitterness, but the aroma WHOA - hop oil fantasy! Johnny's has it on tap get downtown and drink it!
Johnny has 18 other beers as well. A great selection of micros and domestic standards. If you are a HOPHEAD order the North Star IPA.
Get down there and show Johnny that we support local beer! Time will tell if Johnny's will carry a range of North Star beers. It would be great to see something light from North Star like the Pango - Peach Mango Wheat. Maybe even a nice porter, or go out on a limb, North Star -BLACKHOLE- Oatmeal Stout at 8.7% abv???
Anyway, a HUGE thanks to Johnny for taking some time during the first few weeks of his start up to give the local brewery a little play. Johnny is pretty busy, but not to busy to do some business with a local business.
Johnny's has a FULL bar, not just beers, so order a shot with your IPA. Get down there and help Johnny make this a great opening month.

ok, i heard that jonnys had to stop with the dancing on top of the bar by abc. do to it raising testosterone levels. what in the f#$% is with redding. did abc come in and take blood test after these women danced on the bar????? abc seems like its working hand in hand with the stuck up old ass church women in this town. just when thier is a place to go to that does something out of the box. abc aka church ladies. shuts things down.
I have a reason to be bitter about Johnny's Cathouse...let me tell you why.
My band is based in Sacramento & we just got done with a whirlwind weekend of playing at Johnny's on Friday and Saturday night. We had a verbal arrangement with Johhny for payment (a guaranteed amount plus one dollar for each person through the doors).
We played to a dance floor packed full of happy (and thirsty) customers for two days straight. Estimated attendance was 400 folks on Friday and 500 on Saturday, and believe me, we had them DANCING. I'm sure each and every person in there spent well over a dollar on drinks.
Late Saturday night (actually, early Sunday morning), as we're tearing down our gear, we were approached by somebody on Johnny's staff with our payment for the entire weekend. It was for the guaranteed amount, but no reference was given to the "$1 per person through the door" amount-which should have been another $900. We spoke to Johnny and his response was "I don't recall having that agreement" but he did remember other things from the same conversation like, a free hat (thanks a lot).
Johnny may know how to run a drinking establishment, his staff was excellent, but he doesn't know how to do business fairly. He has a lot to learn about honoring his word.
Note to all musicians: Get your agreement with this jerk in WRITING.
Note to Johnny: You will not have us playing your establishment again. BTW: Several members of our band are also in other bands, and several of those other band members are in still more bands...word is out in Sacramento about you. I doubt you'll be seeing a lot of Sacramento bands from now on.
